These have been important accomplishments, realized with your support, but
there remains a tremendous need that has yet to be resolved.
Thousands of patients with
ME/CFS and FM need more skilled and compassionate health care providers.
That is why we now seek your
commitment to propel us towards
OFFER’s new goal:
to establish a Fibromyalgia & ME/CFS Center of Excellence in Salt
Lake City.
We envision, in the future, a multi-disciplinary clinic that provides high
quality patient services, self-help tools, participation in scientific
research and progressive provider education.
Imagine the benefit to your personal healing if an informed medical
team were housed under one roof. This
is a realistic goal but one that will take substantial time and funding to
develop.
In the meantime, to begin this project in realistic stages, our 2012 goal
will be to create a virtual
center of excellence on the website, with
referral lists to local
primary, specialty, ancillary and mental health providers who have
experience with ME/CFS and FM, and are willing to collaborate regarding the
care of individuals with ME/CFS and FM.
We plan to collect
references from patients
who have experienced good care,
locate and/or train providers with
expertise
in ME/CFS and FM, and use our resources to build a strong web-based referral
source that patients can access when seeking care.
OFFER's upcoming education efforts will be planned with this project
in mind. We will also direct
providers toward the growing educational resources on the state and national
level. Meanwhile, OFFER
will continue to encourage and support research leading to diagnosis and
treatment of ME/CFS and FM.
OFFER’s Board recognizes we are in difficult financial times.
While we ask for your support, we do not do so lightly.
For the past ten years, OFFER has
been an efficient, effective and faithful steward of your trust, time and
money. But we need to do more, so we are asking for more.
Please make a generous holiday donation to OFFER in 2011.
We also ask for your help in
identifying or contacting individuals, families or foundations that may
donate as well. Interested
donors with questions may contact Lucinda Bateman, MD, Executive Director,
or Paul Shepherd, the Board Chair of OFFER.
We commit to improving the resources for all who are living with ME/CFS &
FM. OFFER thanks you in advance
for your generosity.
