IN THE NEWS LINKS

The 8th International IACFS Conference on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia and other Related Illnesses took place in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida from January 10-14.  It was a groundbreaking conference with five days of outstanding presentations.  Our Chairman, Stuart Drescher, Ph.D., and our Executive Director, Lucinda Bateman, MD, attended the Patient and Provider Conferences.  We hope to get their impressions and insights on this conference in our next OFFER E-NEWS.

Dr. Bateman stars in promo:
Dr. Bateman was also a presenter at the Patient Conference.  The entire conferences were put on DVD's with the latest technology allowing you to view and listen to the presentation while also seeing the PowerPoint slides in sequence during your viewing.  InstaTapes
Media© calls their process DigiVision.  InstTapes Media© taped the entire conferences and have them for sale on the IACFS website.  To demonstrate their DigiVision process they used one of the many presentations at the conference.  Guess which one they used?  They used Dr. Bateman's presentation!  To view her entire 50 minute presentation, 'Making the Most of Your Doctor's Appointments' you need to have Windows Media Player version 7.1 or later (you can download it for free).  Just go to the IACFS website at http://www.aacfs.org/ and click on the DigiVision box on the upper right of the page.  Then scroll down and click on:  SEE DEMO HERE!!!  Just give it a minute to get started and you can watch the entire presentation.

Helping Others Helps You

Vijai P. Sharma, Ph.D
Helping others is good for your health.  It is healthy to forget yourself on a regular basis and concentrate on helping others.  Volunteer to care for someone, but limit it to the extent that you can handle without taxing yourself.  A study which involved 2,700 residents in Tecumseh, Michigan, observed that residents who volunteer their time for community organizations were two and a half times less likely to die from any diseases compared to those who did not volunteer.
